Colin Scales – B-BRITE Intern

This summer we had the pleasure of hosting Colin in the Emili Laboratory. He worked closely with Jacob to complete his summer research project. As most researchers know, a summer project is a time crunch.

Colin: “My experience in the Emili lab through the B-BRITE program was enriching. I developed a plate-based proximity labeling assay, which enabled me to apply my chemistry background while learning new techniques in protein biochemistry and mass spectrometry. This experience strengthened my confidence as a researcher and improved my ability to design experiments and adapt when experiments did not go as planned. Overall, the lab and program deepened my excitement to pursue a degree in science. I plan to do this through an MD or MD/PHD program.”

Colin gave a great Poster Presentation to end this internship.    We wish Colin the best as he goes back to finish his Senior year.
